I am on a quest to create a "capsule wardrobe" of sorts. Far fewer pieces of clothing that are able to mix and match with each other. Less to keep track of, less to take care of. I am set on creating a few things that I think are missing from my little wardrobe…and that's where this mission comes from. I can't wait to get started!
Okay, I have done this once before.
It turned out really cute–kind of anthro, kind of j. Crew. But, I had my mom and my sassy hip grandmother here to help. Can I do
it on my own? Am I going to have to call my friend Whitney to save me?
What am I going to sew? Eeeep! Stay tuned!
I feel like sewing (along with healthful cooking) is a domestic skill that unfortunately fell by the wayside as more women had pressure or desire to work outside the home. I think that through this economic crisis we have seen families move toward a more traditional and simple life. I want to recapture the ability to live a bit more self-sustaining life–dependent less on the powers that be, if you will.
I can sew basic things, but sewing from a pattern has always been difficult for me. But, that's what I'm setting out to conquer this week. It should be interesting…so stick around. :)
