where to start?

So, say blogging sounds great to you.  How do you start?

First, know this, starting while uncertainties still exist is far better than waiting for perfection before you begin.

Second, make a plan.  Think about these things: will you blog on a specific topic?  what do you want your space to feel like?  how often will you blog?  what are your goals?  why are you blogging?

Third, choose a platform.  Free ones include; Blogger and WordPress.com.  Some premium choices are; Squarespace, WordPress.org, and Typepad.

Four, begin writing and composing posts.  Write great words, use great images, don’t forget the white space.

Five, build your network, make friends, and share your work.  Decide which social media platforms you will utilize.  Facebook?  Twitter?  Pinterest?

Really, it’s that simple to begin.  It’s much harder to continue consistently.  Continuing consistently requires planning well, making good decisions, playing to your strengths, and being unafraid to blaze your own trail.  Saying “No” to things that look good on the surface but don’t fit your plan is imperative.  Try new things.  Drop what doesn’t work, and stick with what does.  Don’t worry, have fun, be real and true to yourself.
