I stumbled across this fabulous new project by Kim Weiss and Jodie Allen of Fresh Art Photography. They are posting a different woman's photograph each day and inviting their readers to say what beauty they see in the individual.
It was spurred on by a letter from one of their brides about the image above that Jodie had posted of herself on their business blog, the response read.
Aren’t we funny, when we see ourselves and hear our own voices,
recorded? What you see isn’t what I see– I see light drenched skin,
perfect curls, and eyes the color of sun on sea water. Someone should
make an entire blog, where we add our photos, and other women add what
they see when they see us. –Stephanie
What I love about this project is that first of all, it's two women looking to encourage other women. We're all told that what matters is the beauty that is on the inside–and while this is most absolutely true–sadly, many women go through life with insecurities on the outside that they are more aware of than other people. It's important for women to hear the ways they ARE beautiful…on the outside, too. I'm a firm believer in this.
Second, I love that these women saw a need and are filling it. It's amazing to me what a little creativity and imagination can do these days–the online community can really be a beautiful thing.
Right now the women on the site are getting between 5-15 comments about their beauty–and I hope in the days and weeks to come the comments will be more numerous. :) Everyone is beautiful! So, if you have a moment, head to their site and make someone's day by seeing something of their beauty that they've never recognized.
Beauty is all around us. It really, really, and truly is.
