The First Night

The first night we spent the night at the Lake House was bittersweet.

Bitter–because my sweet Husband was not with us.  And sweet–because my precious sons were finally in their new home.  And, they got "First Night in the House Pajamas".  They matched.  They were rad.  They love each other.  They also got to sleep in new bunkbeds.  Bunkbeds have been our focal point, our bright shiny object, our…bribe…for moving.

The bunkbeds were slight more…stressful…to assemble than anticipated.  And to think I almost made (asked nicely??) my 15 year old brother paint the entire thing before it was assembled.  It was about 309482 pieces.  Praise the Lord for fathers-in-law and grandfathers-in-law.  :)

Bunkbeds

Since the bunkbeds took slightly (much) longer than anticipated, I needed to set-up a makeshift little snugglenest for the boys to help them settle down.  I laid out their mattresses and made the beds up with their fun new comforters.  They laid side by side in the sitting room in our little master suite.  Twig1 had the iPad and Twig2 fell asleep immediately.

At 11pm, the bunkbeds were finally done.  Papa and Great Grandpa rolled Twig2 up like a taco and gently placed him in the bottom bunk.  Little dude never budged from his sweet dreams–it was PRECIOUS.  Twig1 got a little pep-talk about being a big brother/top bunk sleeper from Papa, and was good to go after that.

It is our family house, but 1/4 of our family is missing.  It's sad–and it's wearing on us.  We want to get life moving on the home front, form a routine, enjoy each other and our new house.  But, we are grateful and so so so unbelievably relieved that we're in our new house.  The fun is beginning.
