My seedlings have bit the dust. Seedlings require so much care and nurturing. They are so delicate and fragile…who knew that sun wasn't good for them? They all wilted and died one incredibly (not, too) warm (72 degrees is NOT that warm!!!) day a couple weeks ago. Seeing as though Husband just finished my raised planters that wrap around our detached garage…I needed plants…STAT. So, I did what any self respecting and very talented/wise/knowledgeable/good gardener would do. I went to the local big-box home improvement store and picked up some plants that had already come through the difficult seedling stage and were entering the seemingly safe adolescent stage. They still need to be monitored, but do allow for a bit more freedom. :)
Strawberries…Mmmm…sweet, sweet strawberries.
Herbs and tomatoes.
My row of replacement tomatoes. So long heirloom varieties…hello Lowe's stock. :)
And…because my hands get so dirty these days due to my incredible gardening skills. I wanted to try my hand at this tutorial from House on Hill Road and make some Gardener's Scrub. I had all the ingredients on hand, and I'm always all for projects that don't require any extra cash. :) Anyway, our info is about the same, but I still took pictures of my process.
Hope you are enjoying spring in your neck of the woods! It's a lovely time…but we're quickly moving towards summer whether here in Charlotte. Hot, hot, hot, and dry.
