Making Slipcovers, Eeep!

Okay, so I've wanted white slipcovers for ages.  Ages, really.  And I'm totally not afraid to do them with kids.  I'm brave like that.  So, when my dear IRL friend the Nester invited me to come and meet another blogger Pink and Polka Dot I jumped at the chance.  So sad that Edie couldn't make it.  :(

I felt like an infantile kindergartner with Nester and I completely dependent on Pink to show us the slipcovering ropes.  I don't normally like to do things that I'm not good at…especially in front of other people (perfectionist?  yes.  guilty as charged!).  I felt silly and inept most of the time I was working…but I had oodles of fun with my good friend and my new friend…AND I got a cute chair out of the deal.  Unfortunately, I still have its twin waiting for a slipcover…and Pink went home.  :(  I'm working up the courage to conquer it alone.

Sweet friends, and cute little chairs.  Mine is an office pair (its twin was waiting anxiously at home), got them both for $20 from our local Habitat Re-Store.  The office chair makes for really cute lines when slipcovered for really cheap.  Husband was leery at first, but he's a big fan of the finished product.

The Nester's is bigger than mine, because she's a smart decorator kind of woman…and I'm…realistic.  :)

Pink working hard at helping us figure the whole thing out.  She was beyond fabulous and I loved getting to know her–hope to see her again sooooooon.

Nester doing what she does best…looking cute whilst tricking others into doing the hard work.  I kid, I kid.

My slipcover ready to sew.  Phew, it felt like a complication puzzle…I can't imagine doing the Nester's chair.  She of course chose the most difficult chair out there.  I, myself, know my own limits.  Easy was imperative…although, I did go crazy and get a pair of chairs.  Eeep!

My finished little chair.  I love it and can't wait to get the other one finished!!  They will look so cute!  Now, if only get Gussy to start on a home accessories line.  Just think…ruffled pillows, ruffled duvets, ruffled ev-er-y-thing.

LOVE it.  It was an adventure all its own.  I'll share pictures when I finish both pieces.
