Since it almost feels like "spring has sprung" here in Charlotte, I felt like it would be a good time to go on the adventure I've been looking forward to alllll winter long. Taking my sweet little boys to the beach! Twig1 has been to the beach twice, but Twig2 has only visited in Utero (whilst I was rocking my cute little bikini, no less!). I also have never visited the beach when it wasn't a zillion degrees out, so I thought it would be fun to visit a beach on the Atlantic seaboard in less than tropical temperatures. I just want them to see the waves and feel the sand and for us to make some sweet memories together.
We are going to visit Wilmington, NC–which is almost a 4 hour drive. But, I love little road trips. Mostly, dear internet friends, because they involve one thing. Road Trip food. Convenience store snacks are my most favorite guilty pleasure…and they are plentiful on road trips. Even the boys can get in on the action with junk food cookies shared with giggles in the backseat. I.cannot.stinkin.wait. They have no idea of our adventure for the week…but I am thrilled and absolutely bursting with anticipation. Husband declared he was jealous when I spelled ("The boys and I are going to the "b-e-a-c-h" for my adventure this week, honey!") out my challenge so the boys wouldn't get ahead of themselves and ask about it every.waking.moment from now til then. Yay! Sorry, babe, stinks to have to work like a big kid! :( Wish you could adventure with us…we'll bring you some sand.
I think we'll go on Tuesday, as it looks like that is the best weather within my adventuring time frame. It says there is a 50% chance of a.m. showers…but we'll be driving in the a.m. anyway. Weather be darned…we're headed to the BEACH!!
Horray for fun out of the ordinary "drive longer than you'll stay" adventures! Those are sometimes the very best kinds! Do know that this will be a heavily documented trip. :) Maybe a video of the little Twigs to come?
