Today Lindsey from Linds Loves is sharing with us her story about moving and transforming their house into their home…Enjoy!
A month ago, my husband and I purchased our first home.
While this is always a big step, for us it was particularly
meaningful, because it meant we were putting down roots in Indianapolis.
Previously we had been waffling over huge life decisions –
should we move back ‘home’ closer to family, or should we move to a
bigger city, or should we stay here?
Now that we’ve picked this as our home, the permanency of the
decision has actually lifted a weight off our shoulders. We
LOVE coming home and knowing that it is OUR space. I want
our little bungalow to become a refuge of peace and respite from the
hectic world outside. I picked the porch as our starting
spot, because it is the first space where we can welcome people into our
home. Also, my husband and I lived downtown for the first
few years of our marriage, and we literally looked at a brick wall and a
parking garage. No balcony, no grass, no grill. The
porch was a blank slate that has been transformed into our outdoor
oasis.
The before pictures from the Bungalow….
We painted all the red beams a bright white to match the house
and found most of the items to fill the space at vintage stores or our
local hardware store. The Adirondacks were a steal from
Land’s End with a holiday promotion code. My favorite part
is that the room shifted from a dark cave to a light-reflecting, clean
space with the simple use of paint.
Tiny Twig's Note: Thanks Lindsey for showing us your transformation! It always amazes me what some paint, a little bit of time, and a plan can do for a home!! Can't wait to be neighbors sometime soon!
