I love blogs. Let it be said. Please, anyone who wants to make fun of me (my IRL friends) is welcome to, although it would hurt my feelings a little bit. :) I am only human.
But, let me tell you why I love blogs. When I had my first son in November of 2006, I was living in a new area with approximately 2 acquaintances. It was a lonely time in my life, especially during the long days when Husband worked late and Twig1 just sat there like an infant lump. You see, I'm a person driven by relationships and by creativity…by spark and inspiration…by beauty and aesthetics. Clearly, if you've followed this blog for long, you know this to be true. But, imagine my life then…isolated, tied down for the first time by the demands of parenting, and feeling that boom of inspiration and lack of direction that many new moms feel.
Enter blogs. To celebrate our wedding and our move to NC, Husband and I bought us (me) a new shiny, white MacBook. I loved that thing like my first child. And, it offered me a glimpse outside my new little (sometimes suffocating) life.
I came across blogs like Posy Gets Cozy and Heather Bailey, neither of which I still read regularly today but loved at the time. I discovered design blogs and blogs about photography. I loved getting a glimpse into someone else's life…someone who wasn't juggling a bitty baby…or someone who was but was doing it with pizazz.
Anyway, I have had personal blogs since then, but since January when I started Tiny Twig I have wanted to give back to the blog community. I have wanted to participate in a more tangible way, creating relationships, giving and receiving directly rather than just gleaning inspiration from reading someone's words.
People like Pugly Pixel and Creature Comforts inspire me with the freebies they give away. The things they design are truly beautiful and could be sold…but instead they give them away to make the blog world a happier place.

So, that's why I'm doing the actions. To make the world a little happier…and to teach my mother-in-law something new, too. :) Because, I like her like that.
