Okay, guys.
Remember when I went to the Nester's for to slipcover her (giant) couch? Well, I met the darling Ellen of Handmade Recess. And she makes DARLING (and I mean DARLING) bags…see below, but be careful not to drool on your keyboard…AppleCare doesn't cover water damage (trust this…I know).
Now…she wrote a little guest post about life-planning, and I wanted to share it with you. She's great. Head over to Handmade Recess to read more of her. But, read on below for her guest post.
"I started with Ephesians 5:15-17: "So then be careful how you walk,
not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because
the days are evil. So then, do not be foolish, but understand what the
will of the Lord is."

the days are evil. So then, do not be foolish, but understand what the
will of the Lord is."
I spent some time
cross-referencing some of the key words like careful and wise. Then I
sat down to consider all of the different walks in my life: my
walk with the Lord, my walk with my husband, with my children, with
friends, in my health.

walk with the Lord, my walk with my husband, with my children, with
friends, in my health.
For each of those walks,
I identified a verse that has become my goal. As an example, for my
walk with my husband I love Proverbs 12:4 which says, "An excellent wife
is the crown of her husband." I feel like being his crown means
affirming his leadership by bringing him respect and honor and
following him willingly both privately and publicly. I wrote down some
ways I could do that: seek his counsel (even on little things and
sometimes just because), speak with honor for him, model respect for my
children, pay attention to my appearance, and using affirming words. I
just love the idea of being something beautiful that enhances his
everyday life, something treasured!

It would
take me days to list each of my walks and it would take you forever to
read all of that, so I won't! While
there are seasons where I do pray these verses every day and seasons
where I don't, I do love (to borrow an idea from the article you linked
to) being able to look at it from time to time and get back on track.

Another
great resource for being deliberate is Simple Mom. We used her
questions last summer for our family as we reevaluated how we spend our
time. We realized that we were too busy shuttling our kids around to
things that didn't matter to us and missing out on things that did."
