i am surprised by God

My heart is about as heavy as my eyelids right now. It’s strange when you have two body parts competing for the most recognition. My heart says, “I’ve been working so hard! It’s difficult to stay emotionally engaged for this long on this little sleep and with meeting so many new people at the same time!”. My eyes don’t even say anything, they just cross and feel the heavy pull and close.

This morning we went to a transtional home here in Addis. A transitioanl home is where babies go who have left the local orphanage and are evaluated (health, emotions, and veracity of their orphaness) and placed with an adopted family. The babies all live together while they await being officially adopted by the families. While not officially attached to Mocha Club or fashionABLE, this home is close to Barrett Ward’s heart–because his oldest daughter lived there when she was abandoned as a tiny girl. We got to snuggle, hug, and otherwise be charmed by the most darling group of small kids I’ve seen in a long time. I was particularly enamored by one little girl, less than 2, who loved to sing and would mimic the sounds I made.

At the transitional home, the most incredible thing happened!!

More tomorrow morning, but my body is crying out for sleep and we have another full full day tomorrow. Thankful for each of you!
