Fancy Fun :: Nish of The Outdoor Wife

I'm Nish – of The Outdoor Wife variety. I LOVE this Fancy Fun feature that Twig is doing here in her space and I love it even more that she asked me to jump in. I will give you a disclaimer, though. I am neither fashionable or crafty. Fair warning. So while my favorite things are less in the Fancy category, they can certainly be seen as Fun.

(tiny twig here:  i think Nish is ridiculous…she is adorable and smart and sassy…and that is why she is some good old fancy fun.  that is all.)

My Daily Reads:

This is an almost impossible question. I can only choose three? (I'm a bit of a blog fanatic. I read a LOT.) Okay. Here are three randomly chosen blogs that I read daily.

1. Donald Miller – He's the NYT Bestselling Author… you know, the guy who wrote Blue Like Jazz? Good one. He offers a lot of really great insights for creative people, as well as people in the faith community. He's clever and straight to the point. I like that.

2. A Holy Experience - Okay, be honest. Who DOESN'T read Ann Voskamp. Really. Don't pretend like you're all unique and have never heard of her. You know you love her & her word-painting inspiration.

3. A Deeper Story – I know this is going to seem like a shameless plug (I kinda created the site), but I swear it's not. All of the writers at A Deeper Story are writers that I read regularly on their own personal blogs – but at A Deeper Story, they get a little gritty. A little less polished. They talk about issues of faith and culture. Alcoholism. Mental Illness. Homosexuality. Cussing. You know, the lighthearted stuff. Anyway, the writers are handpicked and they are GOOD GOOD GOOD. So I read them there, too.

My Dream Outfit Right Now

Why? I'm a jeans girl. I wear them every day of the week. Seriously. And I love the layers in this outfit. And the sleeveless tops give me hope that spring is, indeed, on the way. I'd probably add some brightly-colored jewelry to this outfit to give it some added funk.

My Dream Office

This one was tough. I definitely have a dream office. Which fits nicely in my dream house. Which goes great with my dream life where my child is not crawling up my legs every time I sit down. But, that's just not my reality. I know that whatever space I have, I need to use wisely and efficiently. And I like seeing new, creative ways to use spaces in the homes we have. So, I give you this:

Now isn't that a brilliant use of small space? Enough room for me to sit and write, sit and read, or write with my little boy sitting next to me while he reads his books. I love that there's storage space for books, ample wall space for pictures and it's a great use of small space. I don't need much to sit and write. Just something cozy and efficient.

Favorite picture of myself:

This was also a hard one. My favorite pictures are the ones where I'm myself, and happy. It was a tossup between a wedding photo and the day Rowan was born. I went with this one.

One thing I love about myself:

I love that I'm a perpetual student. I always want to learn. Whether is a new skill, a cultural issue in the news, political topic, or just how to be a better person – I love learning. And I like that about myself. I like to think that it makes me less set in my ways.
