Everlane.
This was one of the of the companies Danielle mentioned yesterday in the 5 Step Guide to Ethical Fashion.
My friends Erin and Allie love Everlane.
For those two reasons alone, I’m sold on Everlane. I think their pieces are FANTASTIC quality for not too high a price. Sure, everything there is more than you’d pay at Target–but it’s no more expensive than J.Crew. The No Brainer Wardrobe is all about having fewer, but higher quality, better curated pieces. Everlane fits PERFECTLY into The No Brainer Wardrobe.
Curation is part of what I love about love about J.Crew and Madewell. I love that opposed to Target, those two brands have a VERY strong aesthetic. They have a very stylized look each season, and you know that if your aesthetic lines up with Madewell or J.Crew, you’re good to get at least your staples there. You will have the coolest, best curated pieces for that season.
Everlane knows what it does well. So far, they really know their factories. They scout the best of the best and get to know the people there. And, I’d imagine, it would be very difficult to manufacture a vast selection of goods and keep the supply chain super honest. So, they do basics. They do simple stuff really really beautifully.
You can read ALL about Everlane‘s factories on their site. I love that not only are they doing good work, but they are telling a good story. Doesn’t it feel good to be part of a good story?
Have you worn a silk shirt recently? Like, a REAL silk shirt…not a cheapo synthetic silk look-alike? It literally feels like you are wearing nothing. It drapes beautifully, it’s deceptively warm, and it’s just the most beautiful, historic material. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Everlane‘s silk shirt. It comes in a selection of collars and a curated selection of colors for the season. Everlane makes shopping simple.
I have seen Everlane‘s goods in real life, and man, they are impeccable. The most stylish women I know LOVE Everlane. I can’t wait to see them grow. I love that they are trustworthy and are pushing for transparency. I’m planning on filling some of my wardrobe holes with pieces from Everlane.
