Sometimes busy makes us feel important. It puffs us up that there are so many things for us to do, so many people that need us, so many to-do’s to check off. But, remember most things that make us feel important can make other people feel less-than.
Do you remember when you were small, and you tried to interrupt your mom when she was on the phone? You were likely scolded and reminded not to interrupt.
We all carry this learned understanding with us into adulthood. We’re told it’s not polite to interrupt, and so when we grow up we don’t. If someone appears to be constantly busy, we won’t interrupt them for fear of appearing needy or impolite.
It’s good to remember that when we’re feeling puffed up by the neediness of all our to-do’s. Remember, there are very polite and very possibly needy people right nearby who are probably waiting for you to take a breath.
also, I’m speaking to myself in this post. :)
