2 Brilliant Types of Travel Bags

By Annie Lempke •  Updated: 01/28/16 •  3 min read

A whole post dedicated to two travel bags might be a little nutso but that’s alright with me. I’m not a world traveler. I mostly find myself taking small, weekend, road trips to places close by. So I have an old set of “real luggage” that never sees the light of day. Instead, I find myself packing and unpacking these kind of smaller sized travelers. I used to own a few larger bags from my childhood days that weren’t stylish and kind of falling apart. So I opted to buy one that was simple and ultra practical. The Everlane bag is Hayley’s fave and I’m a huge fan of the Herschel Duffle. Both are good for carrying on a plane or hopping in the car/bus/train.

Ya’ll know we love Everlane. And this bag is no exception. Hayley says she has carried it around the country and it has not lost its luster. She has had it for 3 (!!!) years and it’s hasn’t needed a single repair. It’s pretty and expands to be big enough for at least a three day trip and can be super compact if you are trying to store it. It comes in lots of different colors, all which are neutral and can be accomading to changing taste. The straps are long enough to carry on your shoulders which is helpful. It also makes a great gift if you know anyone who might be moving, heading off to college, or needing a kid-friendly road trip bag. It’s a nice thick material and it enables you to not need to check a bag if your trucking through an airport. It obviously won’t work if your going on a 10 day vacation but I think it’s perfect for 3-4 nights. It costs $98. Which is expensive but like I mentioned before Hayley has had it for three years so I think it is something worth saving for and spending on. Oh, and it’s ethically made so that’s a plus. Can you tell we like this bag or nah??

Alrighty, this is my personal favorite. It’s a little bigger than the Everlane bag but still small enough where you don’t have to check it on a plane. It comes in different kinds of fabrics as well as different colors. There are more waterproofish fabrics to softer cottony fabrics. As you can see from the middle picture, it has long strap and short ones. It has a real nifty separate shoe compartment that lets you put shoes in it without worrying if they are that dirty or will get on anything. Getting one of these neutral bags would be smart if you were thinking about sharing it with others in your house. It’s Made in the USA which I’m all about. The price varies depending on what fabric/color combo you get but generally range about $80-100.

A trusty travel bag is almost as good as a trusty purse. We’re allllll about things you don’t have to keep buying over and over again, too. You can see more about how we are buying things to have for a long time in our redecorating our bedroom post. We also know there are lots of other great bags out there so if you are in love with yours, let me know below so I can check it out! Travel bags are important to making traveling (often times a stressful process) a little bit easier and more organized!
