We are determined to fight off a case of the Mondays over here! Sometimes we lose that battle, but I think it is always worth a try. There is nothing like starting your week off in a productive way and that’s why we are sharing our favorite ways to jump-start our brains and our bodies into having a good week.
Why does it matter that we start the week off well?
My favorite time of the week is Monday morning. I’m full of energy and hopeful anticipation. However, my husband is the opposite. He gains energy as the week goes on while I slowly drain mine. We both need different tactics to help us get the week started well. It’s really important because getting your week of to a great start will set you up to succeed for the rest of the week.
1. Get organized, not discouraged.
Game plan your week! Use lists and your planner, our fave! But if you find yourself off track, stop what you are doing and be conscious of the things you already accomplished! We LOVE celebrating small victories and think you should too.
2. Limit yourself!
Get done what you set out to do today? Stop and treat yo’ self! You don’t need to actually eat a bar of chocolate (though, that is not a terrible idea) but just stop working for the day! If you continue going after you already checked off the things you wanted to do that day then you might find yourself burned out which is exactly what we are trying to avoid on a Monday.
3. Water!
We sing the praises of water in our energy post, too! But I can’t stress enough how much better it makes me feel when I feel hydrated. You’d be surprised how different it can make you feel. It is my go-to when anything (mind or body) if feeling off-beat. Drink that h20 however you like it, as long as you do it!
4. Do something to help someone else.
Yes, cheesy I know. But offering to run an errand for your mom or watch your friends kids is the biggest win-win that I can think of. It is probably hard to do this one every week, so don’t think you have to set yourself some expectation. It’s just a good pick me up for you and for someone else. You’ll might to squeeze it in your schedule but when you lay down to go to sleep that night, I promise you will be happy that you did it.
5. One thing at a time, I repeat, one thing at a time.
I actually have to repeat this one to myself approximately 45 times a day. Just because a new email pops up at the top of your screen does not mean you need to click on it. You will get so much more done if you finish what you are working on and don’t let something else get in the way. Your time is important for what you set out to do, not always for what others are asking for you to do. Sure, if someone needs a response and it will take 2 minutes to type, then do it but you have to remember to try and balance it out and let the others wait for when you have time!
These are just a few of our ideas and things we are currently trying to stay on track. We always laugh when we use the phrase, “Oh yeah, and if we have extra time we will do this and this and this.” When is the last time we had extra time to add on a few to-dos?! Insert laugh/cry emoji! Know that we are right here with you trying to balance the good, bad, and everything else in between! We know it’s quite the feat to stay on track all through the work week and I would LOVE to know if you have any other tips or ideas on how you do it! Oooh, and remember, if you try and you fail and have the not-so-greatest week, we still see you trying hard and next week will be better.
