I am missing the kind of blogging we had before we had Twitter and Instagram and Pinterest. If I wanted to know what was going on with my favorite people online, I woke up and read their blog with my coffee in hand. I couldn’t just scroll quickly through Instagram and get a 3 sentence hit of eye-candy and information. I had to invest a bit of time (and certainly, so did they!).
I think now that we have SO MUCH information coming at us all the time, it’s hard to know what’s good information to consume and what’s good information to produce. That’s left us on a precipice as bloggers and as consumers online. Where is this all going next?
For me, I want to be here more. I want to polish my craft of writing through telling simple stories about my life and the stuff rattling around my brain. It might not always be crazy compelling, it might not have a sexy headline, and it might not be easily pinnable. But, that’s ok. I’m up to figure out a rhythm for 2015 as I go. :)
But first, let’s look back at 2014.
2014 was the year Mike left his corporate job, we launched the Wildly Co. Kickstarter, jumped into the deep-end of ethical garment production, and officially put Wildly Co. out into the world.
2014 was the year I pursued traditional publishing.
2014 was the year where we had 2 little boys in the elementary school in our neighborhood.
2014 was the year when I finally felt like a grownup. My life feels full, overflowing with crazy and with good.
2014 was the year I realized my life was never going to look like it belonged in a magazine and there was no way I had the energy to style it and fake it. ;)
—————————
2014 was good and full in so many ways. It felt like a year of moving forward, of action. And now, looking to 2015 it feels important to stand our ground, to grow where we’ve been called, to protect our time and our space and our margin so that we can love well still.
2015 is the year my four boys get a little older, a little less squish to tuck into my side and snuggle.
2015 is the year Mike and I will celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.
2015 is the year for being laser focused in what matters, for caring well for myself and for others, for cheering people on and really seeing them.

I can’t wait for it all, really. But first, I want to finish 2014 well with some ham and bean soup and homemade bread with my boys and my mom and my brother and his girlfriend. I want to watch a few more episodes on Netflix curled up with Mike on the couch. I want to look over the goals I have set for 2015 and pray that they’re the right things to be focusing on.
