I live a beautiful life. A life full of special and sweet moments with my husband and two little boys, who are looking more and more alike every day. My life is sweet and special and beautiful just because of the nature of life. There is beauty all around. There is beauty in the still and gentle quiet of the morning, those moments where not a creature is stirring and the coffee pot is slowly getting a start to it's day. There is beauty in the chaos that surrounds family life, the comings and goings of a corporate man…and the tumbleweed that becomes my sons the moment daddy leaves for work. That tumbleweed of wrestling little boys is my sweetest creation to date.
However, in the summer of 2009 I started to feel like I wanted to live a more passionate and adventuresome life. I didn't want my life to simply be a string of those beautiful "life moments" that are quickly forgotten in the busyness of life. Those moments fade like an old photograph until almost nothing exists of them at all. We move on to the next stage, the next challenge, or the next joy and completely forget the sweetness that was just a moment ago.
I started thinking of a way to live a deliberately challenging, winsome, and adventuresome life. I started to wonder what that would look like for a full-time mom of two tiny boys and a wife to the most amazing man. Its not as if I have loads of time I am trying to fill, but I do have loads of aspiration and desire. I need an outlet for these hopes within me that fill me to the seams and make me feel as if I'll burst if I don't have passion and pursuit as part of my daily life.
So, in 2010, I have purposed to give myself a mission to complete every week. Some of these missions will be philanthropic, some will be service oriented, some will simply be finding ways to love those that I already love better. Some of these missions will just be ways to prompt me to be a full and whole woman myself. But, I do know that when I look back at the end of 2010, it will be a year to remember.
My desire is to challenge another blogger each week to join in my mission and then reflect back on their experiences, just as I will at the end of each week. I hope to not only bring some passion and adventure into my life–but also to others and quite possibly YOUR life. We all desire passion, we all hope for adventure of some sort, and frankly, I enjoy a good to-do list. Life is good, and I'm excited to strive to make it even better.
Look for the first mission on Monday, January 4th.
