So, my adventure this week is just not turning out how I thought. We're not running around being all hurried and touristy. We're not trekking around the city with a fanny pack. The reason I picked this adventure for this particular week was because my in-laws are visiting from the great state of Indiana. Perfect time to sight-see. But, what I forgot about their visits is that I love just doing life with them for the short time they are here. I don't like to run around hurried and with a fanny-pack around my waist playing cruise director. I just love being with family. We don't get to do that enough.
Today, my dear father-in-law played with my boys for 4 hours (Husband was working away slavishly to fun Tiny Twig's adventures) while my mother-in-law and I went shopping. We actually sat in the car for an hour after shopping, parked in front of the house, and engrossed in the kind of conversation that only flows from people who don't see each other nearly enough.
The conversation was sweet and such a good reminder of why I hope to someday move home to the cornfields where I came from. Family really is what gives you roots–and just connecting for a short time is enough to ground you again.
We will be going somewhere special and fun tomorrow that we've never been before, but we won't be traipsing around the city going to every possible destination. :) Sorry, lovely readers…but how could you NOT want to spend time with these lovely faces?
