After years of shopping for my husband, through many stages of life (teenager-hood, college, newly-married, young parent…), I have found the best method is to get a bunch of practical stuff and then one thing he doesn't know he needs. That is generally the HIT of the holiday, but he won't appreciate it without all the practical stuff to back it up. Last year that gift to Husband was a great computer/work bag that was eons better than his nylon corporate-issue it replaced. It has worn beautifully and now has a worn leather patina. The bag made him feel youthful while still professional–just what the doctor ordered last year! This is my list of the "things he doesn't know he needs"…you can fill in your own "practicals". :)
