On Thanksgiving, my grandfather gave my younger brothers a gem of wisdom. He said gift-giving was so much easier when he realized that women like frivolous gifts. He started purchasing a piece of crystal for every special occasion as a gift for my grandmother. Now, crystal isn't my thing–but I do love a good "frivolous" gift as much as my grandmother. I love when gifts are things I wouldn't necessarily buy for myself, but that are a bit decadent. Not necessarily expensive, mind you. A book and a tin of tea is a joyous and simple luxury. Every hardworking woman deserves a bit of frivolity in her life.
