26 year old hayley

This is my life.  Add Husband in there and these are my people.  My life, my people.  It is a dear and precious thing, when you can see your life so clearly before you.  My friend Sara has the sweetest heart and a totally creative self–she is an artist before photographer.  I asked if she would do some new headshots for me, and she captured this gem.  This picture is just utterly…us.  My life, my boys, our home.  Us, in time.

On the piano is a huge photo I took while I studied Art History in Florence, Italy–before Husband and I got married.  There is a glass jar full of seashells from the big boys’ and my adventure to the beach.  There is a flea market vintage Merchant Marine group photo found on a flea market trip with my grandmother our first summer back in Indiana.  There are two vessels I purchased when I was staging our house in Charlotte for sale.

I can’t help but look at this moment, frozen there, and pray that 26 year old Hayley is thankful for all she has, all she has done.  I hope that 26 year old Hayley sees the promise the future holds, but how dear today is.  I think that 26 year old Hayley would comfort 16 year old Hayley that is does get better, just look.

There is such Grace and such Mercy that we must not see everyday.  It is only in looking back or looking at a moment in time, that we can see what we’ve been trusted with, what we’ve been blessed to see, what we’ve been spared from.  Today, I am just basking in the coming spring, knowing that sunshine is the backdrop of all my favorite days.
