Every previous year I’ve done gift guides. I love putting them together, because I love things. I think things are beautiful. I love seeing them all in one place, and I often get inspiration from my favorites in the retail space.
But this year is different. I feel a strong desire for calm in my life. For just a few meaningful or important gifts. I want to support small businesses and I want to love my people well. But that doesn’t mean getting things for the sake of getting things.
So, this year, my gift guide is super pared down to just a few of my very favorite things. Total. Not for each genre of people. ;) I DO love a great gift guide. In fact, I always head to people who I admire their taste (I’m looking at you Kubly Girl!) to see the best ideas of beautiful and meaningful gifts.
So, here’s just a few of the things I’m gifting or asking for this Christmas.
This is far and away my favorite T on Earth. It’s new from Everlane. The Cotton Drop-Shoulder T. It’s usurped the Skargorn #61 T as my favorite. It’s 1/3 of the price of the (admittedly crazy expensive) Skargorn. It’s soft. It’s insanely flattering. For reference, I wear a small and I’m 5’3″ and 120lbs.
The Tinker Crate is learning by doing, experiencing through building, and discovering a tiny adventure! This is my 8 year old Noah’s dream. It’s perfect for his curious nature, and it’s like Christmas every single month. We LOVE LOVE Kiwi Crate and are crazy excited for their newest offerings The Doodle Crate and The Tinker Crate (and if you follow those links, you’ll get $10 off! It’s a crazy good deal, anyway!).
I’m crazy excited about Commodity Goods. I LOVE LOVE LOVE a personalized experience. With Commodity, you get a sampler of the 10 fragrances you’re most intrigued by. Then–you can either choose 1 small 10ml vial or the popular 3 vial kit and layer the fragrances. I feel like this is the perfect, thoughtful gift for the lady (or guy! because they have dude scents, too!) who seems to have everything.
A few other things I love and are definitely under the tree this year are God Made Light, a beautiful children’s book that celebrates the JOY and WONDER and GOODNESS of God. My kids LOVE this book. Our SUPER RAD Wildly Co. Sport Pants are under the tree for each of our boys! And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention The Influence Conference 2015 tickets–available until December 31 for $250 (price goes up to $300 then!).

Our family loosely follows a 3-4 gift policy on Christmas morning. This works well for us because we celebrate Christmas 4 times in less than 24 hours with various units of our extended family.
Here are some other gift guides I love for 2014:
Lindsey Kubly (aka, the most stylish girl I know)
The Unofficial Guide to Ethical Gift Guides from social impact consultant Danielle Vermeer
The Ethical Shopping Guide from The Micah Challenge
Just a tiny FYI: I may receive a small commission if you purchase through links in this post. This costs you absolutely nothing extra and helps our small guys eat. So, I appreciate you. ;)
